Bowling Green City Schools (BGCS) maintains social media accounts to connect with prospective families, current families, students, alumni, and community members within our district. BGCS social media pages focus on celebrating and supporting our schools, students, and staff as well as sharing important news and event information with our community. While social media provides a valuable method of quickly providing information directly to the public, it is a unique forum that requires special attention and guidelines. BGCS is committed to maintaining a respectful environment that shares correct information.
We encourage you to visit frequently for news and updates. Our first priority is to protect students, staff and community members. Comments and/or posts that do not follow this comment policy may be removed.
BGCS will make reasonable efforts to monitor and/or moderate content posted on its social media platforms; however, we cannot always respond in a timely manner as it is not monitored 24/7. If an individual has a question they want to have answered, they should reach out through traditional communication channels. Material may be deleted or hidden if it meets the classifications below, or is otherwise determined to be inconsistent with the values expressed above. Posts may be hidden if they contain:
Comments that include personal attacks, offensive or disparaging remarks targeting protected classes, personal criticisms of staff or students, or statements that are libelous, defamatory, or threatening toward students, employees, guests, or other individuals. References to private student data or personnel matters
- Hate speech, racist or sexist comments
- Profanity, obscenity or vulgarity
- Political campaigning
- Untrue, misleading, fraudulent, or unlawful information
- False identities or anonymous comments
- Comments that are off topic or unrelated to post content
- Links to other sites, advertisements or promotions of another page or business (except links approved by the District)
- Comments that contain photos or videos
- Spam comments, such as the same or similar comments posted repeatedly
- Protected health information
- Content that cannot be translated into English by Google Translate or other free online translation software
- Information otherwise determined to be inappropriate or in violation of the mission of the page.
By participating on Bowling Green City Schools’ social media pages, you agree to these guidelines and acknowledge that your comments are public. Community members who leave comments should do so with the understanding that by submitting content to BGCS social media accounts, you understand and acknowledge these guidelines, and that this information is available to the public. You participate at your own risk, taking personal responsibility for your comments, your user name and any information provided. Please note that other participants may use your posted information beyond our control. If you do not wish to have the information you have made available via BGCS social media accounts used, published, copied and/or reprinted, please do not post comments on our social media pages.
Bowling Green City Schools reserves the right to hide comments or topics and even ban users for violating the district’s Social Media Guidelines and Terms of Use and/or Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube Terms of use. Users who consistently violate these rules may be blocked from commenting. Please be aware that all content and posts are bound by each social media platform’s Terms of Use.
