Important Information from the Superintendent

Dear parents and guardians,

As we embark into these uncharted waters due to the school closings, we have been working diligently to meet the needs of our students. Below is very important information that you will need to read.  I will be sending out communications to you on Mondays and Fridays during this school closure to keep you apprised of any important information. 

Due to the timing for the Governor’s announcement our K-5 students were able to take home all of their materials.  High and Middle School students will be permitted into their school to get materials from their lockers as shown below in the chart.

High School – Monday, March 16, 2020

Middle School – Tuesday, March 17, 2020

12th Grade – 8:00am-10:00am

6th Grade 8:00am-10:00am

11th Grade – 10:00am-12:00pm

7th Grade 10:00am-12:00pm

10th Grade – 12:00pm-2:00pm

8th Grade 12:00pm-2:00pm

9th Grade – 2:00pm-4:00pm

 

If you need to pick up any of your student’s medication, please come to your school any day from 8:30am-2:00pm Monday thru Friday.

I want to thank all of our staff and administrators who worked today to prepare and plan for instruction for the next three weeks.  Monday, March 16, 2020 students will not report to school and our teachers will be finalizing the work that they began today.  One of the most critical parts of this school closing is providing food for our students.   

Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 through April 3, 2020, both Crim & the Bowling Green Middle School will be open from 9a-12p Monday thru Friday to offer “grab and go” breakfast and lunch options to all district students.

Transportation will also offer the drop off of both a cold breakfast and lunch option daily to students throughout the district. Parents interested in using this option, must contact Abby Forschner at aforschner@bgcs.k12.oh.us by ­noon on Sunday each week during the shutdown, so that students may be included in the transportation route for the upcoming week. Drop off points daily for delivered meals will be from 9:30 – 10:30am at the following locations:  Milton Center – Township Building; Custar – St. Louis Church; Rudolph – Rudolph Christian Church; Portage – Village Hall; Sugar Ridge – Sugar Ridge Community Church. Please note that these locations can change in response to demand or lack thereof. The food being provided each week will be posted on Monday on the Food Services portion of the district site.

Families in need of food/household items may also contact Abby Forschner (aforschner@bgcs.k12.oh.us) or Felicia Boyd (fboyd@bgcs.k12.oh.us) if they wish to utilize the Jr. Bobcats Basics food pantry on an anonymous basis. We are also accepting donations for those that wish to contribute.

We are also comprising a list of additional locations interested in providing meals for our students. That information will be shared soon.
