Dear parents and guardians,
As we begin the winter season of our school year, I wanted to reach out and communicate what to expect in terms of cancellations of transportation due to weather.
Our transportation department has continued to deliver students to various school settings (Penta, PATHE, St. Al’s, St. Louis, Montessori, preschool, special needs and students receiving interventions to name a few). While this is only a small percentage of students in our district, I am positive that most of you will not be interested in receiving a phone blast message between 5:30-6:00 a.m. Communication that there will be no transportation that day, since we are currently delivering instruction remotely does not impact the vast majority of families in our schools.
Therefore, we will be communicating this information in the following manner in order not to disturb those families that are not impacted by weather related transportation decisions. We will post those decisions on twitter (@francis_scruci and/or @BGBobcatBus), TV (Channel 11 and Channel 13), and each principal/director will send an email to those impacted. We ask that you begin checking those resources starting at 6:00 a.m. as we will have that information posted between 6:00-6:30 a.m.
Once we move to a hybrid or other in person education format, we will return to phone blasts to all families in the district in addition to the above mentioned sites.
Please note that while transportation will not be occurring on a particular day, our teachers will still deliver instruction remotely and students will need to be in attendance.
Superintendent Francis Scruci
