Thank you for attending the 2020 Graduation for our Senior Class. We want to honor the Class of 2020 and also be cognizant of the guidelines for Social Distancing. Below is a timetable and the list of events for Sunday, May 31, 2020. Please see links to the left.
11:00 AM - The Graduation Speeches, presentation of the Class of 2020, and the addresses by the Superintendent and President of the Board of Education will start on-line at 11:00AM. The link will be found on our school district website. Once I have the link, I will send it out by email.
1:25 PM - Seniors will line up at the exit to our school along Poe Road at 1:25PM. I ask that each graduating senior be identified by having their name prominently displayed on the driver’s side of their car. We will then announce each senior’s name as they prepare to receive their diploma cover. The cars should line up west of the main parking lot and east before the Soccer Field and north toward the Football Field. There will be guides to help each senior line up.
2:00 PM - The Graduation Parade will start and the graduates will be led by the Bowling Green Police and Fire Divisions. The route will be west on Poe Road to south on Haskins Road. The route will continue to east on Wooster Street to north on Main Street. The parade will continue on Main Street until the route will make a left on Poe Road (west). The route will make a right turn on Fairview Avenue (north) to the Middle School entrance. The graduates continue through the Middle School parking lot, then they will make a left turn at the Soccer Field and continue toward the Performing Arts Center. Proceed to the overhang of the Performing Arts Center where Dr. JoBeth Gonzalez will read each senior’s name on a public address system. Please have the car identified with the graduate’s name prominently posted in the driver’s side of the car.
Each car will then proceed to the Bobcat Statue and stop, where they will be presented with their diploma cover. The diplomas will be sent home by mail on June 1. We would like the graduates to be on the driver’s side of the car, exit the car, and receive the diploma cover. They may drive or sit in the back seat. Each car will then exit the school.
Other aspects of the graduation will include a faculty music group playing Pomp and Circumstance as the graduates drive by.
We will have a professional photographer to take pictures of the graduates as they receive their “diploma”.
We recommend that if students want their picture taken at the Spirit Rock that they take the pictures before the ceremony or after the last car passes through the ceremony.
Once graduates pass through the ceremony, they will not be allowed to remain on campus until the end of the ceremony. We want to ensure that we conform to the Governor’s guidelines on social distancing.
We want to emphasize that we are going to have a ceremony that is befitting our seniors. We will not allow for any unruly behavior of violations of the social distancing guidelines.
Please be especially safe during the parade through town. We want everyone to be safe and enjoy this occasion.
Please remember to keep the 6 feet social distance from others. We want to keep our graduates and families safe and healthy.
Details may be modified, please watch your email for any changes. Even though this is a radical change to our normal graduation ceremony, this will honor our seniors in the best way we could given the parameters of the quarantine set in place by Governor DeWine. Please contact me with any questions.
