Middle School Clubs & Organizations

Basketball - Boys, grades 7-8
Try-outs begin the first week in November. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to the first practice.

Basketball - Girls, grades 7-8
Try-outs begin in early January. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to try-outs.

Builder’s Club, grades 6-8
This is a volunteer service organization sponsored by Kiwanis and open to all 7th and 8th grade students. You will become involved in many volunteer activities in school and throughout the community. Meetings are held during the year beginning in September.

Chess Club, grades 6-8
Sharpen your thinking skills by joining the Chess Club. The club meets weekly. All skill levels are welcome.

Cheerleading, grades 7-8
Teams are formed for both football and basketball. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to try-outs.

Cross Country, grades 7-8
Practice begins in August. All members participate. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to the first practice.

EZ Plus, grades 6-8
The Bowling Green Police Division and Bowling Green Area Schools sponsor this program to reinforce and reward positive behavior in middle school students. Members will be issued a photo I.D. card that will afford students all the privileges of the program. Students must sign a pledge to be drug, alcohol, and violence free.

Football, grades 7-8
Practice begins in early August at the high school (no try-outs); parent’s meeting is prior to that. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to the first practice.

Jazz Band, grades 7-8
Practice and performances begin in December/January. All band students are eligible.

Junior Teen Institute, grades 6-8
Members pledge to remain tobacco, alcohol, and drug free. Members plan and carry out after-school fun alternative activities along with attending workshops and a weekend retreat.

Pizza & Pages, grades 6-8
A fun and relaxed book discussion group sponsored by the middle school library and the Wood County District Public Library. Students meet once per month to discuss a current young adult book. Food and books provided each month.

Quiz Bowl, grades 7-8
Test your knowledge against students from other schools. Try-outs begin in mid-September. This is a combined 7th and 8th grade team.

Spirit Club, grades 6-8
This club meets to make signs and spirit wear for upcoming middle school sporting events. Members attend the home games and cheer on their Bobcats!

Student Volunteer Program, grades 6-8
A student may initiate volunteer projects or he/she may participate in coordinated volunteer activities in the community. Students receive recognition in May for their volunteer service throughout the year. See Mrs. Rider in the main office to find out what you can do to help the community!

Swim Team, grades 7-8
Practice begins in mid-September for early season or mid-October for students participating in a fall sport. All members participate. Meets are held November-December. Open to all 7th and 8th grade students of all abilities. The BGMS team is in conjunction with the BG Swim Club. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to the first day of practice.

Track, grades 7-8
Practice begins in mid-March. All members participate. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to the first day of practice.

Volleyball, grades 7-8
Volleyball camp is in July; try-outs begin in early August. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to try-outs.

Wrestling, grades 7-8
Practice begins in November. All members participate. Physical and emergency medical forms are required prior to the first day of practice.

Yearbook, grades 6-8
Use your creativity with photography and layouts to help create and edit this year’s school yearbook. The yearbook staff usually meets during academic assist.
