The Bowling Green City School District covers approximately 118 square miles of Wood County. Transporting students in an area that size is no small feat. We rely upon a fleet of school buses and highly-trained personnel to safely move students to our school buildings and back home each day.
One of the greatest challenges at this time of year is the weather. My priority is safety. My mornings begin early during the winter months and I will be out in the district around 4:30 am to determine if it is safe to run our bus fleet, for parents/students to drive and for students to walk/ride bikes to school.
The superintendent and I take the decision to delay or close school very seriously. The first school bus leaves to begin route at 5:55am, so we work very hard to make a decision about delays and closures as early as possible.
To ensure you are notified when school delays and/or closures become necessary, please be sure your child's school building has a correct phone number to reach you. Our SchoolConnects system will relay delay/closure messages, but only if we have your correct phone number!
As always, we are humbled by the confidence you place is in us when you entrust us to transport your children each day.
