Unit 1 - Geography Minimize

The geography unit deals with chapter 1-4 in the Social Studies text as well as the states and capitals quizzes.

Benchmarks Covered:

Geo A - Uses map elements or coordinates to locate physical and human features of North America.

Geo B - Identify the physical and human characteristics of place and regions in North America.

Geo C - Identify and explain ways people have affected the physical enviornment of North America and analyze the positive and negative consequences.

Geo D - Analyze ways that transportation and communication relate to patterns of settlement and economic activity.

Econ A -Explain the oppertunity costs involved in the allocation of scarce productive resources.

Econ B - Explain why entrepreneurship, capital goods, technology, specialization and the division of labor are important in the production of goods and services.

Econ C - Explain how competition affects produces and consumers in a market economy and why specilization facilitates trade.

Skills A - Obtain information from a variety of primary and secondary resources using the component parts of the source.

Skills C - Communicate social studies information using graphs or tables.

Skills D - Use problem solving skills to make decisions individuall and in groups.
