Career Exploration Minimize

7th Grade

Mrs. Leslie visits each team and introduces them to Ohio Career Information System, OCIS, which is an online tool.  Using this website, students take the IDEAS interest inventory assessment.  After responding to a number of interest-related statements about careers, they receive a graph showing a variety of career titles according to their interests.  Students research a career of their choice within their top three results.

Academics Minimize

Students receive help in organizing, prioritizing, and managing course work.  Students will also be able to monitor missing assignments and daily homework.

Agendas

Agendas play a vital role in middle school success.  Each day students fill out their agendas by writing in  assignments from each class.  During academic assist (AA), they check their agendas for those assignments and begin working on them.

Homework Hotline

Assignments can also be checked via the homework hotline, a telephone message system, by both parents and students.  Each academic team has its own extension number (see below) which will have a recording of daily assignments. Call 419-354-0200 and enter your team's extension:

Team Freedom: ext 2810
Team Eagle: ext 2820
Team USA: ext 2830

Study Sessions

Teams also offer study sessions four days a week, Monday- Thursday. Study sessions allow students structured time to do homework, study for tests and quizzes, and ask for help from their team teachers.  This time also models appropriate study skills and environment.  Study sessions typically run from 2:35-3:05 p.m.; teachers rotate supervision duties on each team.  Contact your child's team for exact time and location of study sessions.
