5th and 7th-Students completed Chapter 3 questions.  We found examples of literary terms.  We will begin Chapter 4.  There will be a quiz over Chapters 1-4 when we finish Chapter 4.

5th and 7th-Students completed Chapter 7 in their vocabulary books.  Then, we began reading Chapter 2 of Night.  They need to finish reading Chapter 2 and answer the study guide questions for Chapters 1 and 2.  Look at the example shown before the Chapter 1 questions so you know what an A anwer looks like.

5th and 7th-Students are completing the second part of the Terezin Ghetto/children's poems and drawings assignment.

Students continued to complete their social issues summary assignment and works cited page.  Their 9th and 10th sections of notes for their biographies are due tomorrow.

Students will show me that they have read and highlighted their research articles.  Then, they are making Cornell notes toward their articles.  If there is time, they will begin their typed summaries.

Students will choose a social issues topic, find a related article, read the article, and make Cornell notes.  They will be given a packet with a rubric to help with completing this assignment.

First Period-Finished HOMS.  Then, corrected their vocab tests.

5th-7th periods-Finished HOMS.  Then, they completed a timed writing.  Those who failed the vocab test were given the option to make test corrections by setting up an appointment with me by Friday.

I checked their review pages (32-34) for completion.  Students completed the Unit 1 vocab test.  Then, they read their biography if they had time.

Students were put in groups and discussed the three-level study guide.  Then, we discussed it as a class.  We began reading the final part of HOMS and writing the 8th journal in their journal packet.  The vocab Unit 1 review (pages 32-34) is due tomorrow.  They have the Unit 1 vocab test tomorrow.

Students read pages 72-92 in HOMS.  Then, they completed Jouranl #7 in their notebooks.  Finally, students completed the three-level study guide.

Students completed journal #6 from HOMS.  Then, we read HOMS(pages 72-80).  First period completed Chapter 5 in their vocab books.  Fifth period took their 3 &4 vocab quiz. 

Students created their covers for their vignettes and turned in the entire project.  They have a Unit One vocab test on Friday.  Their 5 and 6 sections from their biographies are due tomorrow.

Students turned in their 1st and 2nd sections from their biographies today.  I checked their prewriting for their final vignette.  Students wrote a draft of their fourth vignette/writing their own chapter "The House on_______Street."

Students will discuss the review sheet for pages 3-52 of HOMS.  Then, they will be working on their prewriting for the final vignette, which is due Tuesday.

We are looking at writing samples from the OGT and comparing them to their own writing sample.  Then, we are starting the unit on House on Mango Street.  We will complete the "When I was 13" handout.

We will go over the classroom rules and complete an interest inventory handout.  Students need to take the rules home to parents for them to sign, saying they understand the rules and procedures.  Students need to return the signed rules and interest inventories to me by tomorrow (Thursday).
