Today in class:  We took the final exam.  If you were absent today, you need to come in during the make up period on Wednesday at 7:50am to take your exam.  In case of weather delays or if you are still ill, contact Mrs. Anderson by email.

Today in class:  We graded the take home quiz and worked in groups to complete this "What Should We Know?" exam review activity.

Homework:  Study for your exam!   Remember to bring your textbook, #2 pencil/eraser and work for after the exam to the 7th period exam on Wednesday.   Remember you will be in the exam session for the entire 1 1/2 hour exam period.

Today in class: We turned in the Habitat Choice assignment and started this assignment for an endangered species.  You will need to research your species first to have a good understanding of its decline and then complete the storyboard before beginning Comic Life.

Homework:  Finish the storyboard as needed.  It will need to be checked 1st.  Also study for your quiz on biodiversity.   After the quiz tomorrow, we will continue the work on Comic Life.

Today in class:  We turned in the Great Lakes websearch and completed these pre lab questions using the Groundwater Forensics Lab.   View this video for a practical application of this type of testing on the Port Clinton cancer cluster.

If you were absent, complete the pre lab questions, read the lab carefully, and arrange a time to complete the testing ASAP.

Today in class:  We completed the sampling portion of the Benthic Bugs lab on bioassessment handed out yesterday and worked on the bioassessment report using this information.

If you were absent, you will need to make up the sampling portion of the lab ASAP and complete the report.

Today in class:  We completed this bellringer on bioassessment and finished the BGSU ponds lab including any tests not finished yesterday and from looking at bacteria test results.  BGSU campus maps (provided in class) should be used to answer the final summary questions.

In class we started Part I of the Benthic Bugs lab - complete #1 (drawings of macroinverts) using the resources provided. Today in class: We turned in any remaining work from the Factory Farms assignment from Friday.  In class we watched the video "State of the Planet" and answered these questions.  If you were absent, see me about a make up time.

Homework: Complete any work needed on the storyboard.  Tomorrow in class you will search for the images and assemble the digital collage.  Your storyboard MUST be done before you will work on the computer.

Today in class:  We reviewed I=PAT and environmental decision making from earlier this week (see earlier blog posts) and finished gathering information about factory farms. 

In class we prepared statements for a city council meeting regarding the building of a factory farm in BG.  If you were absent, you may write this position statement from one of the "interested parties" you listed from Thursday's assignment.  See Mrs. Anderson with questions.   Statements and the information sheet from Thursday were turned in during class.

Today in class: We turned in the Ecological Footprint completed yesterday and watched the film The Lorax - video questions here.   We also identified these issues in The Lorax.  If you were absent, see Mrs. Anderson to make up the video.

In class we began work on a debate regarding the construction of Factory Farms.  See the article packet here and handout here.  We began our discussion with an Internet search of "factory farm debate". If you were absent, you may want to do this as well and see what you find.

Homework: Finish factory farm background research and come to class on Friday prepared to write a statement from the perspective of one of the interested parties.

Today in class:  We completed the Affluenza Quiz as a bellringer and went over Chapter 1 vocabulary.  We also discussed the I=PAT measure of environmental impact - see the presentation here - and the idea of the Tragedy of the Commons (see p.16 in text).

In class we worked on our Ecological Footprint.

Homework:  Finish any part of the ecological footprint not completed in class.

Today in class: Textbooks were checked for covers!  We finished the more people web assigned on Monday in our groups and presented these to the class.  If you were absent, complete and turn in your own web.

In class we went over the model (p.45, Fig.16) for environmental decision making (copy to the back of your timeline notes) and these scenarios.

Homework: Read pages 45-49 and complete this handout on Issues & Decisions related to environmental decision making.

Today in class:  We finished the Math of Gas Prices from Thursday and went over safety guidelines for labs.  If you were absent, please read and sign this safety agreement/syllabus expectations sheet.  Also, textbooks were issued so you will need to see Mrs. Anderson for a textbook.

Homework: Read the article related to Rachel Carson - be prepared to discuss on Monday.  Complete the "How Bad Is It.." stats at the end of the notes outline.   Also, textbooks will be checked for covers on Tuesday.

Today in class:  We started bellringers with this bellringer and went over the white boards we prepared yesterday.  We also went over the class syllabus and extra credit opportunities.  See Mrs. Anderson for your privledge passes if you were absent from class.

In class we completed the first part of the Math of Gas Prices together.

Homework: Finish the survey and average portion of the Math of Gas prices.  We will finish the last section tomorrow in class due to the early release.

Homework: Survey at least 3 people on the same gas price question - what is the max you would pay at the pump before your behavior changes?  Also, gather supplies for class (notebook, book cover, etc.)

Homework:  STUDY FOR EXAM!   Be sure to bring your textbook to the exam (no book = 0 on exam) along with pencils and work or something to read after the exam.

Today in class:  Population websearches were turned in.

We discussed sampling populations - see these notes and powerpoint.

We also completed started a lab on Estimating Populations.   If you were absent, see me for make up.  We will finish the lab on Monday in class.

Exam information was discussed - see this Exam Review Sheet and Exam Study Plan.    The exam for this course is the last exam on Friday, Dec.17th.

Homework: Start getting organized and reviewing for the exam.  Old tests and quizzes, along with review sheets will be the most helpful.  Look over the review sheet and identify the topics you will need the most review on.   You ABSOLUTELY will need to do some preparation each day if you want to do well on the exam from now until the exam day.

Today in class:  Article questions and INSERT on radioactive waste article were turned in.   Complete the lab on Packaging and Hazardous Waste - if you were absent, you can use materials and products at home.

Today in class:  Review work turned in and unit test on Biodiversity.  Also any extra credit for this unit was turned in.   If you were absent today only, plan to turn in your review work and extra credit Monday and take the test.  If you have a study hall or student aide period, you should plan to do this during that period.

Homework: No additional assigment for Monday.  Mid term is Wed.Nov.17th so check your grade on the PIV after the test grades are posted.   We will start the new unit on Monday on solid waste & air pollution
