As part of our mission, the Bowling Green Schools Foundation works to secure funds for college scholarships for graduating Bowling Green High School seniors. There are currently three types of scholarships. See past winners.
Named, Endowed Scholarships are established by the creation of an endowment fund in association with the Toledo Community Foundation (TCF). These endowed funds are managed by the TCF so that their principle remains untouched, while the investment income provides for annual scholarships. Direct donations may be made to the principle of any of the funds mentioned below.
Currently, the Bowling Green Schools Foundation is responsible for recipient selection of the following named, endowed scholarships:
The Fern Harger Scholarship
The Jeffrey C. Fether Scholarship
In affiliation with the Toledo Community Foundation, the following endowed scholarships are available to graduating Bowling Green High School seniors.
The Ross Barr Scholarship
The Steve Beattie Memorial Scholarship
The Elmer L. Boyles Memorial Scholarship
The Cheryl J. Dauterman Memorial Scholarship
The Ken Harger Scholarship
The Marjorie & R. Donald Robinson Scholarship
The Kevin Wolfe Memorial Scholarship
The Tim Young Memorial Scholarship
The Haas Family Scholarship
Non-Endowed Scholarships in the name of an individual or business may be established annually with a minimum donation of $500.00. The first of this family of scholarships will be awarded in 2009. Currently, the Bowling Green Schools Foundation is responsible for the recipient selection of the following non-endowed scholarship:
The BGSF – Easy Street Café Scholarship
Bowling Green Schools Foundation Scholarships are provided by the fund raising activities of the BGSF. These scholarships support graduating BGHS seniors pursuing four year degrees. Currently, these scholarships were in the amount of $1000 each. Selection is based on the following criteria:
A minimum 3.5 GPA
Demonstrated leadership skills
Good citizenship
Involvement in HS activities
Volunteered within the Bowling Green community
Additionally, each applicant will submit a 150-250 word (maximum) essay answering the following:
“If money were no object, what is the one thing you, as a graduating senior, wish the high school would have been able to provide?”
